Here's a little info we got from Activision about the patch situation...We wanted to let you all know that we're listening to your questions about the Call of Duty patch. I've spoken to the team and thought it might help to let you know that updates are definitely coming. Infinity Ward is working now to complete the first update meant to address several issues like bunny hopping, etc.. We also know that you're very concerned about cheat protection. The guys at Infinity Ward are currently considering the best way to address cheat protection. The guys are working really hard and as soon as I have more info, I'll pass it along.
Can't wait to see the patch running, hopefuly soon thanks IW keep up the good work.

The Cyber X Gaming Call Of Duty tournament never ended, apparently multiple issues came up making it impossible for the last 4 teams to finish the tournament.
The 4 teams: smf, zfz, rival, unr will be splitting the money evenly. zfz on the contrary will receive the sum of $7000 for taking first place in the winners bracket while the other 3 receive $6800.

Giovanni from Heat of Battle writes:
Heat of Battle, a capture and hold modification for Call of Duty, has released Beta
v.25. This patch will bring HoB_Village up to final beta status and HoB_Dawnville up
to revision 2. The biggest changes are related to capture timings and balancing, but
there are many other alterations as well. This should be our last release until v.3
comes out in a few weeks with new maps and many new features. We are accepting map
submissions from the community for the v.3 release as well. If you're a CoD mapper
and are interested in having an existing map converted, or would like to build a map
for HoB please visit our forums!

The guys at Penny Arcade are in the process of dishing out their favorite 12 games of the year, and Call of Duty made the cut and squeezed in at number 8.
Penny Arcade is a popular online comic strip website run by two avid gamers who aren't afraid to tell you the truth about what's good and what sucks. That being said, it shows you even more that Call of Duty is a truely incredible accomplishment in the First Person Shooter gaming scene.

| Today, Gamespy is featuring an interview with Zied Rieke, lead designer for CoD's new multiplayer mode, called "Headquarters"
The interview sets a patch release for next week on FilePlanet, and does not mention what there will be for Anti Cheat in the patch.
Some highlights:
GameSpy: Can you describe the new "Headquarters" mode for us and any special new features, etc., that may be a part of it?
Zied Rieke: Headquarters is a team-based objective mode with respawning. A location in the map is randomly selected from a list of different places, and each team fights over that spot to hold it and set up their headquarters there. Once a team has set up a headquarters, they must defend it for 45 seconds. If they succeed, then they score big time, everyone respawns and they have to do it again. If they fail, then the attacking team scores points, everyone respawns, a new random location is chosen, and each team fights to set up their headquarters again.
GameSpy: What are some of the other major changes in the patch?
Zied Rieke: We've reduced how well you can bunny hop. We've made the sniper rifles more realistic to act more like how a real sniper rifle would behave. We made it so the number of grenades you start with is based on the weapon you select. We added unique player IDs, which are based on your CD key and made it so that server admins can ban players using that ID. We really changed too much stuff to list here, if you want to know more, check out the .readme.
Head on over to Gamespy to read the rest of the interview for more information on this interesting new game type.

Vertigo has just finished up a great review on BigBoyG's DM/TDM map Fivepoints. Here's a snippet:
The good thing about this map is that neither side has an advantage. BigBoyG obviously planned "Fivepoints" out well. It is sad that a lot of community-made maps get a bad rap for being unbalanced, because the few that are very well done get overshadowed by the excessive amounts of poorly made maps. But I am glad to finally see one that shines out above most.

Sparkles from the Electronic Sports League writes that they haved up three new international CoD ladders.
After recently the german Call of Duty Ladders went to the start, we can
present you now finally also international Call of Duty Ladders.
At the beginning we start with 3 Ladders :
Call of Duty 1on1 Ladder
National german Ladder is already since few weeks an absolute success
and belongs to the TOP 1on1 Ladders. Over 250 players take to this part,
we hope this on international level still to naturally exceed.
Call of Duty 3on3 Search & Destroy Ladder
A quantity of players expressed the desire for these Ladder. In
particular for small clan's which are still in the starting period
should be this Ladder interesting.
Call of Duty Search & Destroy Ladder
The probably most popular game mode, therefore it may not naturally be
missing. Standard mode will be 6on6, but after arrangement with your
opponent it is also possible the play in the 5on5, 7on7 or 8on8 mode.
More information and signups at ESL.

League Administrator Thor from The Medal of Honor Online Invitational League writes that they have expanded their leagues to Call of Duty and revamped their system in the process. Read on for the official press release:
MoHI, formerly known as Medal of Honor Online Invitational League, was formed back in the summer of 2002 as a small invitation only league for Medal of Honor. Over that time MoHI has built up a great community and team base from which we've flourished from for one and a half years now, amazingly over the same game, MoH. MoHI has been looked upon as the league to be in if you are seeking true competition, and we’ve given
just that by allowing only mature and respectable teams into the league. Our no BS policy has kept us the league we are, clean, fair, and honorable.
To the present, MoHI has decided to expand the league and evolve with the times, moving beyond the only previously offered game, MoH. We’ved the league up for Call of Duty, and for any other game out there we feel our community would enjoy participating in under the umbrella of MoHI. With this, MoHI has will know be known as Men of Honor Online Invitational League since we are expanding our horizons. Despite adding
new games to the league, we are maintaining our invite only presence to ensure only the best competition out there.
This past Wednesday, Dec. 10th, wed our CoD S&D 7v7 ladder in the new league. We are always seeking respectful teams who are looking for
the best competetion, so be sure to check out the revised league, completely reprogrammed for our expansion, over at www.mohoil.com/new

In speaking with UBS Investments in New York the other day, Activision hinted about their interest in one or more Call of Duty sequels past the already planned console versions. This of course is great news for Call of Duty fans everywhere, as we can now breathe a bit easier knowing that more is destined to come.

Perhaps one of the lesser known ladders around the gaming community, the Xtreme Tournament Gaming League [XTGL] hasd up new ladders for both Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy for Call of Duty.
Ladder administrator MeGa writes that signups have just gotten underway, and states that they offer fair admins and quality play.
So if you're in the market for a new ladder to play on, you might want to stop by and check XTGL out.

Tonight on irc, PCGamer interviewed Infinity Ward, the creators of Call of Duty. As usual, it was full of redundant questions that had been asked multiple times in other interviews. Although, we did learn one thing:
The SDK is not going to besource and will only be released to mod teams if IW feels necessary. This means that if you have a mod started with good potential, they may release the source to you. Otherwise, you're stuck with scripts which limit what you can do.
We didn't get a patch update nor did we learn anything about the Mac port. This interview was pointless, and when questions such as "<[PCGO]yeg> when is a dedicated server coming out for win32?" are asked, I find it hard to believe that the people at PCGamer have actually played the game. Stick to magazines guys, you seem to be doing well there.
