Deathmatch
This is the standard gamemode in almost every shooter. It's every man for himself with constant
respawn. Just kill everyone you see and don't worry about team kills. While you can go
crazy and charge everyone, it's likely someone you kill will spawn behind you, so naturally
the best campers win Deathmatches. The player with the most kills when the time runs out wins.
Rounds are set to 20-30 minutes.
Team Deathmatch
This is a variation of Deathmatch but with two teams, the Axis and the Allies. Your teammates
will be displayed on your radar, and in most servers your teammates will also have a floating
icon over their heads. In this gametype you work with your team to push the other team back.
If you die you can respawn and join the fighting. The team with the highest kill total when the time
runs out wins. Rounds are set to 20-30 minutes.
Search and Destroy
In this gametype rounds are usually about 5 minutes, and once you die you have to sit out for the
remainder of that round. Naturally, people tend to camp and move around more carefully. One team's objective
is to plant a bomb on a target and the other team has to defend the target. If the defenders defuse a planted bomb
even if attackers are still alive, the defenders win. Search and Destroy is interesting though, because there are two bomb
targets so the defenders have trouble covering them both.
Retrieval
There are certain objects like radios and maps placed on the map near the defending team. The retrieval team
must sneak into enemy territory, grab both objects, and return back to their start point. If you die in this gametype
then you must watch your teammates for the rest of the round.
Behind Enemy Lines
This gametype is very unique. Allies are placed on a map and outnumbered by Axis players by a ratio of 3:1. The goal
of the Allied players is to survive, and the goal of the Axis players is to hunt down the Allies. For every 10 seconds you
are alive as an Allied player you earn a point. Both sides, Allies or Axis, earn 1 point for killing. If you are an Allied player and
you die, you now become a German "hunter" and your killer will take your place. Now your job is to find the Allies and kill them,
and once you do that, you will become an Allied player again so you can earn some more points. The Allies will want to camp, but
it will be difficult because their general position is marked on the Germans' radar.
