You, the mapping community has spoken, and we have heard you loud and clear. The Call of Duty Mapping Contest will be extended past the original 30 day timeframe.
Why has it been extended? Many casual mappers have expressed their concern that 30 days simply isn't enough time. We want you to be able to put out the best map possible, so we are extending the contest an additional 45 days, which puts the deadline at February 4th, 2004 (Mark your calendar!).

Thats much more realistic, Though I would have liked to see what people could have made in 30 days.

Gj on the time extension.
Will the public be able to download and tryout these maps to offer their opinions? Maybe we run a server that hosts them only?

If we have a really rough time deciding the winner we may bring it to the public for all to decide, but that won't be decided until the time comes ;).
We don't want to run anything prior to the end of the contest simply for the reason that it could alienate many of the mappers original ideas, which would lead to map rip-offs and the like.
CoDX will host all entrants maps for download that are suitable for public, bug-free play after the contest is over.
I'll also put up a CoD server with nothing but the custom maps that were submitted so everyone can play them. :)
